About the Artist

Caryn Akins was born into a very artistic family. She began drawing and painting as a child, and went on to minor in art in college.

She began her decorative painting career in 1988 by taking the initial faux-finishing course at the first teaching school of it's kind in Chicago, Miller and Wagner Studios. She then went on to apprentice with master decorative painters for several years. In 1990 she established her own business and is now a master artisan in her own right with almost twenty years experience.

Caryn often does sub-contracting, working in tandem with interior designers, but will work directly with the client as well.
